Day and night they never cease to say (Revelation 4:8b)
In Revelation 4 John sees an open door and a voice like a trumpet inviting him to enter and he finds himself standing in the throne room of the universe. With only his human experience and senses he sets out to describe what he saw. His description however falls far short of what is needed to describe the indescribable scene before him.
How do we know this? Because John enters into a worship experience in progress that has been going on for a long time and it continues to our day and beyond into eternity.
Darlene and I entered our faith journey in the aftermath of a revival in the early 1970's. There were meetings that went on well beyond normal scheduled meeting times and we never got tired of attending these services.
But imagine the worship service that John observed, which was already in process, and continues to this day some 2000 years later. Now that is a worship service. I have been trying to visualize what John saw. I have been trying to comprehend being part of a never ending worship service and loving it.
Alas, my mind fails me and I return to the world in which I currently live and to the task God has assigned to me. That work (of which you are a major player as well) is to make sure we do all we can do, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to prepare as many people as possible for the upcoming worship service those of us who know the Lamb will attend.
For too long the evangelical church has been satisfied with getting people to pray a prayer and presumably get their ticket to heaven. Jesus wants us to have a great life now in preparation for an even greater future. I think we will appreciate the worship service more fully if we engage in discipleship now which prepares us for the great worship service in the Kingdom of Heaven.
In Revelation John made his best effort to describe the indescribable. When I reread my reports of the good things God is doing through our ministry my words don't adequately convey what is taking place. Nevertheless, I trust your heart will be filled with praise for the good news I do share and you will continue to take the needs of this ministry to God in prayer. We could not accomplish any of this without you on the team.
